A Review of: A Silent Prayer by Samreen Ahsan

A Silent Prayer Book One of A Prayer Series By: Samreen Ahsan Genre: Romance 330 pages iUniverse, 2014 Set in Toronto it follows Adam Gibson a successful businessman who is an atheist. He's never had a meaningful relationship. But when he meets Raina his life changes. She's beautiful, exotic,  mysterious, and devoted to God. He's never been more drawn to anyone like her before. He meets her in a place that no one else knows exists. As he falls in love with Raina he reconsiders his beliefs. But Raina has a dark past and evil forces conspire to keep them apart. Can Raina trust Adam enough so he can help her fight her demons and have the love she's longing for? This is a deep thought provoking supernatural love story. But a different kind of supernatural. No vampires, werewolves, or ghosts. I found it to be an  enlightening read . However, the language seem stilted at times and for me the book was hard to get through at times. It is a very interesting concept, th...

Because He Was My Grandfather

A home, love, and support. Responsibility. He taught and gave us many things. Because he was my Grandfather. Except he wasn’t. He married my Grandmother when my mother was nine. Then when we came along he helped take care of us–with food, with stability. I don’t know what we would have done without him and my grandmother at times. Some of the best traits I have I learned from him. So when the time came when he needed help we gave it. Family doesn’t necessarily have to be biological. He was more family to me than some of my blood relatives. I loved him and he loved me; even though we never said it. Because he was my Grandfather.

Sleeping Beauty and the Beast by Melissa Lemon

Sleeping Beauty and the Beast By: Melissa Lemon Genre: Fantasy/Romance 300 pages  Published by: CreateSpace, June 2014 I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. Princess Eglantine has been asleep for years, cursed by a witch. The only experiences she has are the ones in her dreams. There she meets Prince Henry of Fallund, a neighboring country. Meanwhile Henry's brother Prince Duncan became intrigued by a beastly woman in prison for murder. He looks to free her from both the prisons she's in- the cage she's in and the one surrounding her heart. A fun fantasy novel. I like the mashup when they're well written- and this one was. I did find the story of the Beast more compelling than Beauty's but still enjoyed the chapters concerning her. The book kept my attention and the author did a good job blending the stories together. So it's getting... Melissa Lemon is the author of two other fairy tale retellings:  Cinder and Ella ...

Birth of An Assassin by Rik Stone

This review is part of a  tour hosted by Sage's Blog Tours Birth of An Assassin By Rik Stone Silver Publishing, 2013 430 pages Genre: Thriller I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. Young Jez Kornfeld lives in Post WWII Soviet Russia. He's always longed to be a soldier in the Red Army. He finally gets his chance rising though the ranks as the years go by. When he's given the order to disperse and arrest Jewish protestors in Red Square- he never imagined he'd find his sisters there. He then plans to get them out of the country safely never knowing he's being watched and set off events that threaten his life. I found the novel to be a little tedious and slow at first. But once the action is ramped up and Jez turns into an avenger it was an action packed thrill ride. The author obviously did his research and Jez is a sympathetic character. If you like history and politics in your thrillers then  I recommend this book. I...

Just Breathe

In. Out. In. Out- goes the rise and fall of my husband's chest. Ever since his heart attack in February I've watching him breathe when he goes to sleep. Okay. Watching him breathe more. He's had health problems for a while and for several years I've watched him as he sleeps. He sometimes wakes up and sees me staring at him. I'm sure it's not disconcerting whatsoever for him. This was also a habit I had with my grandparents. Especially my grandmother. But her heart would actually stop for a few seconds before she got her pacemaker.   Fun times for everyone. I  also usually ask the husband several times during the day if he's ok or if his chest is hurting. I have slacked off, though, instead of asking 20 times a day I now ask 15 times a day. I'm sure that doesn't bug him at all. It's just various family members have had several major health problems recently. Heart attack, three surgeries within six months for my mother, my grandfa...

Send off for a Snitch ( A Jesse Damon Crime Novel) By: K.M. Rockwood Genre: Mystery 243 pages Publisher: Musa Publishing  I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. Jesse recently been released from prison after serving 20 years. He's just trying to get by and stay out of prison. But his life gets complicated when a co-worker's young brother shows up on his doorstep one morning. Things get even more complicated when the co-worker's body is then found on his doorstep. Whoops. Will Jesse find the real culprit and stay out of jail? I liked the fact that Jesse is a blue collar worker trying to turn his life around. He's an interesting, well developed character. All the characters were well developed. I found the story ti be a little slow moving, though. I like the killing to be done early in a novel. However, once I got to the mystery I found the story enjoyable.  Buy it here: Amazon B&N More links: Author Facebook Page Goodread...

The director also wants her to find out who's been cyberbullying him through social media. When her love interest Luke Harper decides to help her life gets even more complicated- considering their families hate each other. Will Cherry solve the mystery and get the man?   A fun engaging mystery. It had enough twists and turns that kept it exciting. The ambiguous ending between Cherry and her love interest left me wanting to read more of this series. It was the first book I've ever read in the Cherry Tucker series and I enjoyed it very much. Murder at Rudhall Manor A Lucy Anne Trotter Mystery By: Anya Wylde Genre: Mystery 224 pages Publication Date: June 16, 2014 Publisher: Anya Wylde I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. When a theft and murder occur Lucy is named as the prime suspect. It's then up to her and the dashing Lord Adair to find the real culprit. Will she find the real murderer or will she end up losing her life as well? A madcap mystery with a zany heroine and a roguish hero. Lucy and Lord Adair have plenty of chemistry, the mystery was interesting, and the book had the perfect setting. The cover also captures the story well. At time I had trouble following the plot but I think that was just me.The name's of the characters were also a good fit for their personalities.  I hope there's...
